Moldovan cabinet adjusts public communication on electoral period

The spokesperson for the government, Daniel Voda, today informed that, starting from July 14, 2025, and until the day the election results are confirmed by the Constitutional Court, the government was adjusting public communication in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code and the Central Electoral Commission's Regulation on the coverage of the electoral campaign.

On this period, media service providers, broadcasters and advertising distributors will be allowed to broadcast only public interest messages that are duly approved by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).

Daniel Voda specified that public interest messages were forms of institutional advertising provided by entities from the public sector or non-commercial organizations registered in Moldova.

In the electoral context, these messages exclusively promote democratic values and participatory democracy; provide correct information to citizens regarding elections and/or referendums; explain how citizens can exercise their political and electoral rights.

At the same time, public authorities willing to conduct opinion polls during this period must also submit appropriate requests to the CEC.

“The government reaffirms its commitment to fully adhere to the legal framework and to contribute through its actions to a correct, balanced, and transparent informing of the citizens. We will undertake all necessary steps with our colleagues at the Central Electoral Commission concerning all major public communication activities we have underway, in order to ensure compliance with the legislation,” said the spokesman for the government.

On September 28, Moldovan citizens with rights to vote are expected at the polls to elect the MPs.

The electoral period for the parliamentary elections due on September 28 started July 14, and will last until the results of the parliamentary elections are confirmed by the Constitutional Court.

According to the CEC, during this period, the lower-level electoral bodies will be constituted and candidates for the position of lawmaker of Moldova will be nominated and registered.

Also, trainings will be organized for electoral officials and other electoral subjects, information activities for voters will be conducted, electoral lists will be updated, and models of ballot papers and other electoral materials will be prepared.
