Moldovan PM has meeting with Ambassador of Greece
Moldovan-Greek projects, Moldova's European agenda and accessing pre-accession funds for implementing citizen-benefiting projects have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Ambassador of Greece to Moldova Nikolaos Krikos.
The PM expressed gratitude for the unconditional support received in the process of the country's integration into the European Union and for the assistance in developing a string of key sectors. The prime minister highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding for stimulating economic growth and advancing on the path of European integration, signed between the two countries. Based on this agreement, Moldova will benefit from Greece's expertise in carrying out major investment projects in the country.
Another important collaboration area is the energy sector. Thanks to Greece's gas infrastructure—including the Alexandroupolis terminal and interconnections with Bulgaria—Moldova gains access to diversified natural gas sources, significantly contributing to strengthening the country's energy security. Another successful collaboration, according to the officials, deals with the commercial and economic sector: Greece has entered the top 20 commercial partners of Moldova, with Moldovan exports to Greece increasing by 66 per cent in 2024.
At the same time, citizens of the two states benefit from pensions based on the Social Security Agreement, and earlier this year, a decision was taken on the recognition of Moldovan driving licenses in the Hellenic state.
