Foreign minister holds video conference with heads of diplomatic missions to repatriate Moldovan citizens
Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/- Today Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea held a meeting in videoconference system with heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the MAEIE’s press service, the meeting was focused on issues related to repatriation and assistance of Moldovan citizens in difficult situations abroad, in the context of the current epidemiological situation COVID-19.
In accordance with the Instruction of the Commission for Emergencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will coordinate the repatriation of Moldovan citizens with charter air flights. By the Instruction No10 of the Commission for Emergencies of 31.03.20, the procedure for organizing air flights for the repatriation of Moldovan citizens was approved, by establishing the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Civil Aviation Authority and air operators in the process.
Tulea discussed with heads of diplomatic missions practical aspects of organizing repatriation of Moldovans in accordance with the procedure adopted by the CSE on 31.03.2020.
The meeting also focused on the activities carried out the last week by the ministry team and diplomatic missions, as well as actions needed to be taken in the near future.
Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry and diplomatic missions, over 4,000 Moldovan citizens from many countries have been repatriated in the last two weeks.
Thus, over the past 10 days, according to information from the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Moldova abroad, many people were allowed to cross border, including from: France - 660, Russia -840, Great Britain - 398, Turkey - 155, Italy - 180, Israel - 159, through Romania - 115, through Ukraine - 355, from Germany / Poland / Ukraine - 195, Estonia / Latvia / Lithuania - 68 etc.
The ministry recommends to Moldovan citizens, who are in difficult situations and / or who need consular assistance abroad, to contact the embassies and consulates of the Republic of Moldova in the respective country, or to call the MAEIE Call Center by phone +373 22 788722 (mfa.gov.md/ro/content/centrul-de-apel).
