Moldova Post Office warns of possible delays for shipments to Italy during Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
The state-owned enterprise Moldova Post Office informs citizens that on 6 February -15 March 2026, delays may occur in the processing and delivery of international postal items for Italy. The situation is caused by the organization of Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, events that involve increased logistical and security measures across the entire Italian territory.
According to the national postal operator, the major influx of participants, official delegations, tourists and additional freight flows is putting pressure on Italy’s transport infrastructure and on postal handling and customs services.
The institution's representatives note that the delays do not depend on the activity of the postal operator in the Republic of Moldova, but on the operational capacity of postal and logistics services in the destination country, where temporary traffic restrictions, additional security checks and rerouting of transport flows are in place in the areas involved in hosting the sporting competitions.
In this context, customers are urged to take these circumstances into account when planning shipments to Italy, especially for documents or goods with a delivery deadline. Moldova Post Office recommends sending items well in advance and periodically monitoring the status of parcels through the available tracking services.
The postal operator has assured the public that it is maintaining communication with international partners and will provide additional information in the event of changes to the situation or to the estimated delivery times.
