Moldovan deputy premier has meeting with UN Women Moldova country representative
Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic today had a meeting with the new country representative of the UN Women Moldova, Dominika Stojanoska, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Cristina Lesnic congratulated the new representative of the UN Women for taking over the mandate in last August and this is the first meeting between the deputy prime minister and the representative of this international organization.
The two officials discussed the carrying out of the national programme for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security for 2018-2021. The sides reviewed the latest actions, planned for next year, and stressed the opportunity to work out a new national programme on implementation, as well as to extend the cooperation between the two institutions in other sectors. The Reintegration Policies Bureau is the national authority in charge of enforcement of the UN Resolution 1325 in Moldova.
Cristina Lesnic noted that, during all her mandate, UN Women had been a privileged partner, with which she had a nice experience of collaboration both at the elaboration of the plan and at its implementation. Lesnic thanked for the good contacts between the staff of UN Women, Reintegration Policies Bureau and the national authorities, in order to implement the UN Resolution and the security and peace agenda. The 2020 year marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Resolution 1325 and is dedicated to the making of tangible progress in concrete fields.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister for reintegration reiterated that the pandemic was a tough capacity test for more states and authorities and the support provided by UN Women to more than 1,313 direct beneficiaries and 34 indirect ones, worth 525,000 lei, was an essential contribution. The donations from both consignments were offered to different groups of people who live in the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone and some of the beneficiary families were selected jointly by UN Women and the Reintegration Policies Bureau.
Another subject tackled at the discussion was focused on the working out of the mechanism of prevention, identification, registration, reporting and considering cases of discrimination, sexual harassment and gender-based violence at the Defence Ministry, approved on 7 July 2020. Cristina Lesnic said that a meeting of the National Council for Human Rights had been held at the government on 15 September, where the gender dimension was discussed as well.
