Moldovan government announces schedule of events to mark Independence Day
Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s government informs about the detailed schedule of celebrating the Independence Day on 27 August, due to be held on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
On 27 August at 8:30, President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean will lay flowers at the Grieving Mother monument at the Eternity Memorial Complex.
Starting from 9:20, the Moldovan leadership, the government members, the heads of state institutions, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova will lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephen the Great in the centre of Chisinau.
At 10:00, PM Dorin Recean will participate in a ceremony on inauguration of the Independence Day holiday on PMAN, during which President Maia Sandu will give a speech addressed to the people. Attending the event will be representatives of the Presidency, parliament and government, members of the diplomatic corps, signatories of Moldova’s Declaration of Independence, as well as other famous personalities. Citizens will have free access to the Great National Assembly Square, in order to celebrate together the country’s sovereignty and independence.
Starting from 10:45, brass band concerts will take place, given by orchestras of the interior affairs system. Afterwards during 12:00-16:00, the prime minister, along with other cabinet members will have a meeting with people within the programme, Speaking with Citizens. The event will be held in the yard behind the government building. Also here, citizens will be able to discover what is Moldova proud of at home and abroad, will meet the country’s champions in wrestling, will watch a show of wrestling and will take part in a painting workshop for children.
A show titled, As at Home, by brass bands, folklore bands and ensembles of folk dances will take place on PMAN at 16:00. The JOC National Ballet and other folklore bands, orchestras, soloists will present the musical and choreographic show, Moldoveneasca, at 18:00.
The cultural and artistic events dedicated to the 32 years of independence will continue at 19:30 with a concert titled, Me at Home, given by artists from the Diaspora.
At 21:30, the National Folk Music Orchestra, The Fiddlers, will give a concert and the holiday will culminate with the great dance, When Moldovans Gather.
The schedule of the events dedicated to the Independence Day will be able to be watched directly on the Facebook pages of the government and other public institutions and the citizens of Moldova and from abroad can join the My Tricolour National Campaign, held till 1 September, through posting the tricolor flag in the most creative and original ways.
