Our national culture has lost another great actor and stage manager, Boris Bechet. The well-known theatre and film actor, People’s Merited Artist Boris Bechet passed away at the age of 68 years today.
Actor Boris Bechet was born in the Vadu Leca village, Telenesti district, on 7 February 1953. In 1975, he graduated from the Chisinau-based Arts Institute. Subsequently, he played on the stage of the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre from Balti and afterwards, he played at the Alexei Mateevici Poetic Theatre from Chisinau, where he worked till present. At this theatre, Boris Bechet played more both leading and secondary parts, being distinguished through his performance in more plays.
In 1983, Boris Bechet debuted in cinematography, at the Moldova-Film studio. In 1991, he played the part of Nicanor in the movie Troiţa (The Crucifix) and in the same year he was awarded the title of People’s Merited Man.
Also, the government awarded Boris Bechet the National Prize in 2020 for outstanding results in his prodigious activity in the theatre art field.
With deep regret and boundless sorrow for the loss of the great actor and man, we express sincere condolence to the family, colleagues from the world of theatre and film arts and all those who knew and admired Boris Bechet.
