
Warning for Moldovan citizens traveling in areas affected by COVID-19
Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration draws the attention of Moldovan citizens traveling abroad, especially in areas affected by the spread of COVID-19 infection that some states apply restrictive travel measures by prohibiting access to and from / certain areas, as well as the closure of border crossing points or the establishment of a mandatory quarantine period, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
This could lead to blocking of citizens in certain states and respectively generate exceeding the 90-day limit in Schengen states, which is considered a violation of the residence regime and is subject to administrative liability.
Therefore, in order to avoid deadlock outside Moldova and the consequences of breaching the stay period in other states, we reiterate the call to Moldovan citizens to avoid travel in the areas affected by COVID-19, and if they cannot be avoided to inform about the measures taken by the authorities of the transit / destination states in the context of limiting the spread of COVID-19 infection.
At the same time, in case of difficulties outside Moldova, it is recommended to contact the diplomatic missions and consular offices to the emergency phone numbers posted on their official websites.
