Moldovan deputy PM says future accession of Moldova, Ukraine to EU vital for Europe's security and prosperity

Ukraine needs every support of the international community, in order to face Russia's ongoing aggression and the future accession of Moldova and Ukraine to EU is vital for the stability, security and prosperity of the region and Europe as a whole. Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi has conveyed a message to this effect during the ministerial meeting, Ukraine - Southeast Europe, held at the Dubrovnik Forum.

The event brought together foreign affairs ministers from the region as part of a political dialogue’s format, aimed at strengthening support for Ukraine's sovereignty and its recovery process.

During the meeting, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi firmly condemned Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, highlighting the dramatic humanitarian consequences, extensive destruction and major risks to regional security and stability.

‘’In such circumstances, Ukraine needs every support of the international community, in order to face Russia's ongoing aggression, and the future accession of Moldova and Ukraine to EU is vital for the long-term stability, security and prosperity of our region and Europe as a whole. At the same time, our accession to the European Union is not just a goal for us; it is a means by which we ensure the peace, security and well-being of our people,’’ said Mihai Popsoi.

At the same time, the Moldovan diplomacy head reaffirmed Moldova's strong commitment to ‘’restoring peace in Ukraine, observing its sovereignty and territorial integrity.’’

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a joint declaration, which reaffirms support for Ukraine and its continued European path.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi paid a working visit to Croatia on July 11-12. The agenda included bilateral meetings with Croatia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, as well as with other European counterparts.
