President Maia Sandu has had a meeting with Moldovan citizens in Treviso and Venice. During this meeting, the discussions were focused on Moldova's accession to the European Union and the contribution of the Diaspora from Italy to this process.

The head of state said that she was delighted to meet Moldovans working in Italy.

"Dear Moldovans from Treviso and Venice, the meeting with you brought me great joy – because, even though you are far away, Moldova is present in you. In a beautiful and active region, your honest work and your way of being have earned you the respect of those around you," Maia Sandu noted.

The Moldovan president emphasized that, through their contribution, Moldova succeeded in getting support on its European path.

"Stay close to Moldova – through what you do and through the hope that our country will move forward. And the fact that you are appreciated here helps us build support for Moldova and its European way. Thank you for carrying Moldova with you, wherever you may be," Maia Sandu also said.

President Maia Sandu paid a visit to Italy on July 9-13. In Rome, the official participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, hosted by Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At the same time, during the visit, the official has a string of meetings with Moldovan citizens residing in Italy.
