Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry issues travel alert for State of Israel

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has issued a travel alert for the State of Israel. The authorities warn Moldovan citizens who are in, transiting through, or intending to travel to Israel about the worsening security situation in the region, amid reciprocal attacks between Israel and Iran and the high risk of escalation.

According to the MAE, Israel’s Home Front Command has introduced nationwide restrictions, in force until June 8, 20:00.

“Educational institutions are not operating, public shelters have been opened, hospitals have switched to underground operating mode, public transportation is running on a limited basis and public gatherings are restricted. The activity of public institutions is affected. The Ben Gurion International Airport is currently operating as usual; however, the situation stays extremely volatile and may change rapidly,” the institution said.

In the context, the MAE recommends avoiding any non-essential travel to the State of Israel.

“Avoid travel to high-risk security areas, including northern Israel, areas near borders, and other zones affected by military developments. Also, avoid crowded areas, identify in advance the nearest rocket shelters, keep valid identity documents at hand, constantly follow official information from the Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command, and comply with the security instructions issued by local authorities,” the MAE said.

The Embassy of Moldova in Tel Aviv is continuously monitoring security developments and maintaining contact with local authorities and international partners. Moldovan citizens can request urgent consular assistance from the diplomatic mission, by calling +972 52 778 9772 or by email at tel-aviv@mfa.gov.md.

The Israeli army on June 7 informed about the detection and interception of rockets launched from Iran toward Israeli territory, this being the first such incident since the ceasefire announced on April 8.
