
Moldovan electoral body marks International Election Day
Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/- Several journalists today received diplomas and symbolic gifts from the Central Electoral Commission.
The election administration awarded diplomas and symbolic gifts to journalists who covered equidistantly and permanently the CEC activity. The event is part of activities that the electoral administration marks the International Election Day.
CEC head Dorin Cimil said that due to the transparent relations between media outlets and election administration, citizens were informed and educated in electoral terms.
“The electoral activity conducted by the CEC during 2020, a year with electoral effervescence and pandemic could be reflected in society due to the activity of journalists. Journalists were present and correctly transmitted the electoral events to public. The coronavirus pandemic did not affect the activity and the equidistance of media outlets ", Cimil said.
Secretary of the central electoral administration Maxim Lebedinschi said that the work of journalists was prompt and accurate. "I noticed the promptness and fairness of election news, as well as increase in training of journalists," Lebedinschi said.
MOLDPRES Agency is one of the media institutions awarded by the Central Electoral Commission.
International Election Day is marked every year on the first Thursday of February following the initiative of the Association of Election Officials of Europe to confirm the belief in the irreversibility of democratic voting processes.
