Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets Romanian president

The ongoing bilateral projects, the security situation in the region and the parliamentary elections due on September 28 have been the main topics discussed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi and Romania's President Nicusor Dan. The two officials met during a visit  to Bucharest by the Moldovan foreign affairs minister.

“Romania has always stood by us and this close collaboration is an important pillar in our European journey and the stability of Moldova. The strategic partnership between our countries means not only political support; it gives us the confidence that together we can build a better future for our citizens,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The president of Romania and the Moldovan diplomacy head highlighted the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue between the two states in the face of the regional challenges. At the same time, Deputy PM Popsoi expressed Moldova's gratitude for Romania's constant support, especially in strengthening the energy independence and resilience.

The officials also emphasized the value of joint projects aimed at bringing communities on both sides of the Prut River closer together and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.

In Bucharest, Mihai Popsoi had a meeting with Romania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu, followed by a joint press conference. The discussions focused on strengthening the European path of Moldova and major ongoing projects that reinforce the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Economic cooperation stays strong, with Romania being the main commercial partner of Moldova, accounting for about 3 billion dollars in annual trade and significant Romanian investments the country.

Mihai Popsoi participated in the Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy, where he referred to Moldova's priorities in the relations with the European Union. The two officials participated in the working session titled, An Expanded, Safer and More Prosperous Europe.
