Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration in dialogue with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative for Transnistrian settlement process
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with Thomas Lenk, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process, accompanied by Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Izabela Sylwia Hartmann.
The agenda of the discussions included the most important issues of concern to the residents on both banks of the Nistru River and the measures undertaken by Chisinau to address them, including prompt interventions to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms.
It was reiterated that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova continue to strengthen reintegration policies and to expand the provision of quality public services in the eastern districts of the country and for multiple categories of beneficiaries in this territorial area. In this context, details were presented regarding the upcoming launch of the Convergence Fund.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that sectoral reintegration processes are steadily progressing, this dynamic being reflected in rising figures, and that the population in the Transnistrian region largely supports the strategic objective of restoring unified national spaces.
Furthermore, an appeal was made to the OSCE to use its full available potential to eliminate the artificially maintained barriers imposed by Tiraspol to free movement, to resolve individual cases of human rights violations in the region, and to reconfirm support for a peaceful and lasting settlement model of the conflict, based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
