As many as 110 education institutions of Moldova endowed with sets of robotics
Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 110 education institutions of Moldova will be endowed with sets of robotics, with the help of which pupils will develop abilities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The new equipment of robotics contains sensors, engines and pieces, in order to design and construct robots and work out projects at various school disciplines.
Those over 800 sets of robotics worth about 300,000 dollars were provided by development partners, Future Technologies Activity in Moldova Project, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Sweden and the United Kingdom, as well as Western NIS Enterprise Fund within the National Programme on the Studying of Educational Robotics, implemented by The Class of Future National Centre of Digital Innovations in Education, under the aegis of the Education and Research Ministry.
„Next year, we will continue with new projects on digital transformation in education. With the support of the development partners, we are set to increase the number of the ‘’classes of future’’, start new innovation projects, endow schools with technical equipment, as well as train teachers in the digital education sector,’’ Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said.
The deputy head of the USAID Mission in Moldova, John Riordan, said the investment in education was an intelligent investment. The official noted that the institution he represents had contributed to the development of education in Moldova and appreciated the results achieved so far.
The programme on the studying of robotics in Moldova was launched in Moldova in March 2014. Presently, the initiative is implemented in about 270 education institutions of Moldova. So far, over 40,000 pupils from northern, central and southern Moldova have benefited from it and about 650 teachers were trained for the teaching of robotics in schools.
Also today, The Class of Future launched a new advanced laboratory meant for the testing of different education technologies, in order to identify the fittest ones to be used at the classes of mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, informatics. Teams of teachers and pupils will have access to the laboratory, in order to experiment ways of study of new technologies and their implementation in classes. The overall value of the technologies is of 100,000 dollars, provided by the Future Technologies Activity in Moldova Project, financed by USAID, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
