Five Moldovan universities present study programmes at educational fair in India

Five universities of Moldova are participating in an educational fair organized in Bengaluru, India, in order to promote study programmes and establish new international partnerships.

The event features the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), the State Pedagogical University Ion Creanga, the State University of Moldova (USM) and the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemitanu.

The agenda of Moldova’s delegation includes working visits to institutions in India and meetings with their leaders. The discussions will focus on opportunities to expand collaboration and establish partnerships. They take place as a result of the bilateral dialogue in education between Moldova and India, initiated last year during the visit to India by Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun.

The participation of Moldovan universities in the educational fair in India is supported by the Moldovan Higher Education Project, implemented by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC) and funded by the World Bank. Previously, with the project's support, Moldovan universities participated in two other educational fairs in India - in March of this year and November last year.

According to the MEC, in recent years, significant investments have been made to enhance the competitiveness of Moldova’s universities internationally, as increasing foreign students' access to study programs in Moldovan universities is one of the MEC's goals. The internationalization of higher education from Moldova is supported by the World Bank through the Moldovan Higher Education Project' with about one million euros allocated, and by the American Fund for Ukrainian-Moldovan Enterprises.

Statistics data shows that higher education institutions from Moldova admitted a record number of foreign students for the 2025-2026 academic year. In total, 1,113 young people from 24 countries worldwide enrolled in higher education programmes in Moldova, by 376 more than last year. Presently, 1,316 citizens from India are studying in Moldova, India being the country with the highest potential to attract young people to studies.

There are 16 higher education institutions in Moldova, of which 12 public and four private.
