Moldova hosts 4th international conference on noncommunicable diseases

Moldova on June 3-5 is hosting the 4th International Conference on Noncommunicable Diseases, titled, Health Risk Factors and the Prevention of Injuries and Diseases. The event is organized under the aegis of the Health Ministry, in collaboration with the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF).

The conference brings together about 150 participants from Moldova, Switzerland, Romania, Italy, Serbia, Hungary, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, the United States and other countries. Among the international guests, there are representatives of the World Health Organization, Swiss TPH and more prestigious universities and public health institutions from Europe and the USA.

The forum addresses up-to-date topics, such as: prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, health promotion and behavior change, nutrition and health, tobacco control, public health research and collaboration among the health, education, social assistance sectors, public administration and civil society.

During the session, From Tools to Impact: The Local Ecosystem for the Prevention and Management of Noncommunicable Diseases, real examples of cooperation between specialists in health, social assistance, local public administration, non-governmental organizations, religious communities and beneficiaries of community interventions will be presented. In the context, tools and models developed for the promotion of health, prevention and management of noncommunicable diseases will be presented, as well as how they work in practice.

A special event of this edition is the presentation of the Moldovan component of the international virtual exhibition, Everyday Things: Life with a Chronic Condition. The exhibition brings to the forefront authentic stories about health, care, hope and resilience.

Organized biennially, the conference is one of the most important regional platforms for professional and scientific dialogue in the field of public health. Through its international, multidisciplinary and practice-oriented character, the event contributes to strengthening cooperation among research, public policy and practice, promoting the development of healthier and more resilient systems and communities.
