National Youth Day marked on 10 November in Moldova
Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ – More cultural activities dedicated to National Youth Day, marked on November 10, are held in Chisinau and other localities of Moldova.
“Today, on the second Sunday of November, in Moldova we celebrate the National Youth Day. It is a special occasion to address to all the young people the most cordial congratulations and good wishes from the team of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) and from me, personally”, it is said in a congratulatory message, signed by the minister of state, Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei.
According to official, the youth field is an intersectoral one, and the participation of young people in all spheres of life is crucial for a society based on values such as democracy, tolerance and prosperity. "Moldova has many active and involved young people, who are performing in various fields and we are proud of them. The young people are the source of energy, courage and talent that generate real social change, economic growth, technological development and innovation”, specified Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei.
"From the National Youth Day, we send you sincere congratulations and wish you to be energetic, creative and ambitious. As to put effort and soul into everything you do. But most of all, we want you to have the courage to take on your share of responsibility for your own future, for your own decisions, for your own success. Nobody can do it better than you”, concluded in her congratulatory message the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei.
The presence of young people is becoming more evident in public space of Moldova. An active role is played by all the youth structures of Moldova: Youth Centres, Local Youth Councils, youth workers, youth specialists from local public administration authorities (AAPL) that contribute to creating an environment suitable for the personal and professional life of each young person, including for the equitable support of those from small groups.
Currently, there are 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world. According to UNO, it is the largest youth population of all time. However, more than half of children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 14 do not have the basic knowledge of reading and maths, despite the fact that most are in school. This global crisis of knowledge acquisition strongly impedes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030. It was adopted by the United Nations on 25 September 2015 and establishes a global framework for poverty eradication and sustainable development by 2030, on the basis of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
