New Chief of General Staff introduced to soldiers

Chisinau, Oct 16 /MOLDPRES/- Vitalie Micov, the new chief of the General Staff, commander of the National Army was introduced today by Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii to his subordinates.

Vitalie Micov was appointed chief of the General Staff of the National Army under the decree of head of state Maia Sandu of October 11, 2024. He filled the post left vacant after the departure of Eduard Ohladciuc.

The new commander of the National Army is a graduate of the Land Forces Command and General Staff College, USA, the European Security and Defense College, Kingdom of Belgium, and the Baltic Defense College of Estonia. In 2018-2021 he served as the Military and Air Attaché of the Republic of Moldova to the USA and Canada, and from 2023-2024 he served as the Senior Military Commander of the Peacekeeping Forces Contingent of the Republic of Moldova.
