Over 330 road workers involved in cleaning roads in Moldova
Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/- There are winter conditions on the routes in the country, and over 180 heavy machinery and 330 road workers were involved in the last 24 hours in removing snow and spreading anti-skid material on roads.
The head of the State Road Administration’s operations service, Sergiu Capatina, said that during this period, patrol, snow-clearing and ice-fighting works were carried out on national roads. “The 187 special machines involved in the technological process have spread 1,331 tons of anti-skid material,” he said.
“The road sectors showing increased danger to road traffic in winter are monitored jointly with representatives of the National Patrol Inspectorate,” he said.
The city hall announced that overnight, 68 machines were involved and over 1,100 cubic meters of anti-skid material were scattered on the streets.
Regarding homeless people, employees of the Chisinau Police Department and National Patrol Inspectorate acted overnight to detect people standing out in the cold.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, Liliana Puscasu, said that the rescuers are monitoring the situation across the country in the context of bad weather conditions. “There are 140 machines and 400 people ready to intervene to help people in risk. During yesterday, the rescuers intervened in 13 situations for unlocking and hauling the means of transport. It was necessary on the routes of Vulcanesti, Causeni and Rascani,” Puscasu said.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip held an emergency meeting yesterday on bad weather conditions. He asked for permanent communication and effective interaction between the responsible authorities in order to prevent crisis situations.

Meteorologists announced early this week yellow code of cold until 3 March. At the same time, the yellow code of ice formation is also valid till 3 March.
