Over 6,000 refugees transferred from Moldova by air, car
Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - About 1,000 refugees have been transferred by air to EU countries and about 5,000 refuges left Moldova’s territory by car. The state secretary at the Interior Ministry (MAI), Daniela Misail-Nichitin, made statements to this effect today.
According to Misail-Nichitin, over 400,000 refugees have entered Moldova since the beginning of the war in Ukraine and 95,000 are still in Moldova.
„We will be able to help the foreign citizens only through cooperation with the partners. Thus, through the transfer programme, about 1,000 people have been transferred to European Union states since 24 February. The closest route for which refugees can register is the one to Germany on 11 April. About 800 routes were organized by car, which transferred about 5,000 refugees. Since early last March, such countries as Lithuania, Austria, Italy, France, informed that they would receive refugees,’ the official noted.
The MAI official also said that all information about the free of charge flights was available on the official website worked out by the government. The refugees can register also on this platform, after which they are contacted. Refugees also can learn information at the Migration and Asylum Centre, as well as at the United Nations information point.
