Psychologist's activity to be regulated by law
Chisinau, 7 June /MOLDPRES/- The government notice on draft law on the profession and activity of psychologist will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 8 June.
The draft aims at adhering to the profession, the quality standards of private and public psychological services, psychological expertise, guaranteed psychological assistance and regulation of the profession by creating a professional union responsible for the certification of psychologists in Moldova based on the best internal and international practices in the field.
The draft law also establishes the establishment of a Chamber for the regulation of psychological activity. This Chamber will be created by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and the Union of Psychologists from Moldova. It will provide psychologist licensing every five years as a result of an assessment exercise for psychologists. The institution will also have the right to withdraw the psychologist's license, if it violates certain ethical or professional rules. The chamber will also work out policies in the field of psychology, the criteria and procedure for assessment and accreditation of psychologists, and work on a Code of Ethics of the psychologist.
The Chamber will also keep a register of accredited psychologists, which will be made public. Only psychologists on the list will be allowed to practice privately or publicly. Both private and public psychologists will pass the evaluation procedure every five years, but monitoring would be permanent. The single register will comprise the specialization and competence of the psychologist.
