Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Obstetrics Section No 1 of the Mother and Child Institute (IMC) from Chisinau today was inaugurated after a capital renovation.

At the event, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco stressed that the modernization of the medical institutions represented a priority for the authorities. ‘’We want to bring Europe home, along with specialists who went there and for this, we must invest in the modernization of medical institutions – one of the main goals of the Health Ministry. We are set to construct new hospitals, to capitally renovate sections and endow them with modern equipment, so that they meet all international standards. The quality of the medical act depends on conditions, not only on the professional abilities of the medical staff. The health of the mother and child represents a priority for us,’’ Ala Nemerenco said.

The IMC’s Obstetrics Section No 1 was capitally renovated for the first time following 40 years of work, with the financial support of the Health Ministry, which allocated over 6 million lei to this end.

Up to 2,500 children are annually born at the Obstetrics Section No 1. It has seven birth rooms, two operation rooms, endowed with equipment and rooms specially arranged for medical employees.
