VIDEO // Sipoteni village, model of local development; Moldovan PM says people see in Sipoteni what involvement, work for community's benefit means

Sipoteni, one of the largest and most dynamic communes in the central Calarasi district, is becoming an example of quick modernization and sustainable development, according to statements made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu during his working visit to the village. The PM discussed with residents and local authorities, highlighting the results achieved in the last four years and the development directions for the coming period.

"Sipoteni is a community that proves what a settlement can achieve when there is vision, involvement and partnership with the government. The people here are hardworking and determined and the projects implemented directly improve their quality of life," the prime minister said.

The commune is part of a pilot project on transformation into a "smart village" by implementing modern technologies in public services: water filtration stations, LED public lighting and new public transport stations. Munteanu emphasized that Sipoteni was "an example of adaptation to intelligent, energy-efficient solutions oriented towards people's needs."

Investments made through the European Village programme have enabled the full renovation of the Community Centre, endowing it with modern equipment, and installing a photovoltaic system that helps reduce energy costs, strengthening the institution's autonomy and efficiency.

Essential infrastructure work continues in the village: repairs to the water and sewage networks, modernization of the kindergarten, local roads and the elderly home. Additionally, the volunteer fire station now has two new fire trucks, increasing its intervention capacity in emergencies.

The PM reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue supporting projects with a direct impact on communities.

"Investments in infrastructure, public services and local development are fundamental. We want each settlement of Moldova to have dignified, modern and safe conditions," the prime minister highlighted.

The visit to the Calarasi district is part of the prime minister's series of trips to the territory, dedicated to evaluating local progress and identifying new needs of communities.
