Freestyle wrestler to represent Moldova at Olympic Games in Paris
Chisinau, July 15 /MOLDPRES/- Freestyle wrestler Maxim Saculțan will represent our country at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The International Wrestling Federation has offered our athlete the participation quota for the Summer Olympics, thanks to the result at the World Wrestling Championships, in Belgrade, Serbia this year.
Maxim Saculțan will compete at the Paris Olympics in under 65 kg weight class and will be the second freestyle wrestler after Radu Lefter (97 kg) to represent our country at the Summer Olympics.
After Maxim Saculțan's qualification quota, the Republic of Moldova will be represented at the Paris Olympic Games by seven wrestlers in freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's wrestling, the largest ever in the history of our country's participation in the Summer Olympics.
The last time the Republic of Moldova was represented at the Olympic Games by at least two athletes in the freestyle wrestling event was in 2016. Nicolae Ceban and Eugen Nedealcu competed at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
