Well-known Moldovan journalist launches three volumes
Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - „Cronici din perioada pandemiei” (Notices from the pandemic period) is the title of three volumes of notices, stories and commentaries by publicist and writer, reporter of the MOLDPRES State News Agency Nicolae Roibu, launched at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) today.
„The three books are made based on stories written at MOLDPRES. When the pandemic started, I practically remained with no activity or at that time, I had the idea to tempt culture people about what they are doing on this period of self-isolation. Some of them wrote a book, the other painted pictures or composed music. Besides the creation work, I included some of their reflections on the pandemic,’’ the author said.
Those three volumes have 500 copies each. ‘’The books represent a history of the national culture on the pandemic period, including the suspension of the activity of the competent institutions, online work and re-launch,’’ Nicolae Roibu also said.
„This is a book-document, through which the author wishes us to be a free people through culture. Writer, publicist Nicolae Roibu makes history. Those who will read his commentaries after years will be able to easily reconstitute the cultural events on a period apparently destitute of them, which is a sign that we lived,’’ a departed academician, Nicolae Dabija, said. Dabija was one of the irretrievable losses for Moldova’s culture, caused by COVID-19, who wrote the foreword of the first volume of Nicolae Roibu.
Nicolae Roibu was born in the Mandac village, northern Drochia district, on 5 January 1958. In 1980, he graduated from the Journalism Faculty of the Moldovan State University. During years, he worked at more media institutions. Roibu started his career at Radio Moldova (1980-1990) and afterwards he worked at the Glasul Națiunii (The Voice of the nation) magazine (1990-1997), national dailies Flux (1997-2001) and Timpul (The Time) (2001-2013). Starting from July 2013, Nicolae Roibu has worked as reporter at the MOLDPRES State News Agency. He is member of the Writers’ Union of Moldova and Writers’ Union of Romania.
