Authorities to consider circumstances of trees' cutting in central Moldova nature reserve
Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - A commission set up by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) will consider the circumstances of the cutting of trees in the Nature Reserve Plaiul Fagului (The Beech Region) – a protected area placed in the central Ungheni district.
The results of the commission’s work will be made public and depending on the findings, prosecution bodies will be notified and amendments will be proposed to improve the management of the forest exploitation.
„We disapprove and condemn the actions illegal and unjustified cutting of woods. We urge citizens to inform the competent institutions about the infringements they find out in the country’s woods, so that the abuse cases are quickly examined and the perpetrators are punished under the law,’’ a MADRM press release reads.
„The protection of the environment’s health with everything this implies is a priority for the ministry. The citizens’ opinion matters and we further urge you to notice, monitor and inform about the actions/unlawful things which are allowed and take place in woods,’’ the ministry in charge said.
Moldova’s media has earlier written about cuttings which would be illicit, found out on 25 January 2021, in the Nature Reserve, The Beech Region, which belongs to the Moldsilva Forestry Agency, subordinated to the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry.
