Moldovan deputy PM has talks with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at Department of Commerce
The opportunities for strengthening trade and investment relations between Moldova and the United States have been examined by Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu, on a visit to Washington, and Cameron Werker, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
“We noted the shared interest in boosting the bilateral trade flows, as well as the importance of ensuring a transparent and fair market environment, based on high standards of compliance and quality,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.
According to the official, an important aspect discussed was the role of Moldova in the process of Ukraine’s reconstruction.
“In this context, I emphasized that the logistical infrastructure, regional connectivity and operational services which our country can provide position us as a regional support hub that can facilitate the access of international companies to the region,” the deputy PM said.
At the same time, the two officials discussed developments in the energy sector and national efforts to diversify resources and strengthen energy security. Eugeniu Osmochescu highlighted Moldova’s ability to quickly adapt to regional developments and to ensure the functionality of critical infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister Osmochescu stressed that Moldova stayed open to partnerships with American companies and reaffirms its role as a regional platform for trade, investment and economic connectivity.
“A catalyst for economic development is investment in strategic sectors. Therefore, I encouraged the American side to implement investment projects in infrastructure, energy, digital technologies and services, as well as in emerging fields, such as artificial intelligence and advanced energy technologies, the development of technological and industrial services, which can also contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine,” Eugeniu Osmochescu noted.
