Moldovan deputy PM, U.S. deputy trade representative analyze international trade developments, Moldova's role in regional context

Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu, on a visit to Washington, has had a meeting with Deputy United States Trade Representative, Jeff Goettman. The officials discussed developments in international trade policy and Moldova’s role in the regional economic context.

Eugeniu Osmochescu said that he had analyzed with Jeff Goettman the impact of U.S. tariff policy on bilateral, as well as global trade flows.

“While examining possible developments in trade policy, we emphasized the importance of predictability for exporters in a dynamic global environment marked by uncertainties and geopolitical reshaping. At the same time, we highlighted the importance of aligning trade policies with international standards and maintaining a transparent and reliable framework to facilitate investments and trade exchanges,” said Osmochescu.

The economy minister also underlined national developments and investment opportunities in strategic areas, such as logistics and transport infrastructure, regional connectivity and the development of operational services, taking into account the potential of Moldova as a regional logistics and economic hub.

“Our country contributes to facilitating integration into supply chains and to the development of regional trade. We agreed to advance the bilateral dialogue and trade cooperation with the United States, strengthening efforts to ensure the development of a stable, predictable trade environment oriented towards integration into regional and global economic value chains,” concluded Deputy Prime Minister Osmochescu.
