Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita in Washington has met congressmen David Price and August Pfluger, co-heads of the group of Moldova’s friends from the U.S. Congress (Congressional Moldova Caucus), the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials referred to the situation in Moldova, in the context of the complex and costly crises from the financial viewpoint. The sides stressed that, to respond to the present challenges, the government further needed the support of the international community.

The Moldovan prime minister said that the war in Ukraine had left long-term imprints on Moldova’s economy and other important sectors for the country’s development. The inflation, increase in prices, disturbance of the supply chains and the energy crisis – to overcome these difficulties, the Moldovan authorities made maximal effort, continuing, at the same time, the reforms underway in diverse fields.

„Our priority, even in the current circumstances, remains the consolidation of the rule of law state and combating corruption. At the same time, we are focused on the acceleration of our goal to be part of the EU family. While benefiting from USA’s support in everything we are set to do, we are sure that we will achieve results accordingly,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

In the context, the prime minister appreciated the initiatives of backing the country’s democracy and independence, noting that the group of Moldova’s friends from the U.S. Congress contributed to maintaining a permanent dialogue for the consolidation of the Moldovan-American relations. For their part, David Price and August Pfluger highly appreciated the efforts made by the cabinet for the management of the crises and backing the citizens hit by them. They reiterated the support for the agenda of reforms and the one of Moldova’s European integration.
