
Moldova to hold national mourning day in memory of Brussels terrorist attack victims on 24 March
Chisinau, 23 March /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan state authorities, representatives of ministries in charge and special services today, held a meeting on measures needed to ensure the security of Moldovan citizens and also to prevent and combat eventual terrorist attacks, both in Moldova and regionally. Attending the meeting was Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the parliament’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The participants in the meeting touched upon yesterday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels. They have also tackled the threat the security of the European continent is exposed to, as well as Moldova’s readiness to ensure its citizens’ safety and collaborate with other states to combat terrorism.
The officials also broached the important need to update the national security legislative framework and adopt a legislative package meant to enhance Moldovan citizens’ security degree and also prevent and combat terrorism.
The Moldovan leadership joins the international community and condemns Brussels terrorist attacks, which left dozens of people dead and injured. In sign of solidarity and compassion, the day of 24 March will be declared as national mourning day in Moldova.
