Moldovan government approves deontological code of physician, pharmacist
Chisinau, 01 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Code of Ethics for doctors and pharmacists. The document goals to establish conduct rules for health workers and pharmacists, to prevent any infringement in the line of duty and protection of patient rights, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Code of Ethics Draft governing medical worker and pharmacist binds principles and standards of conduct both in relation to the patient, and in collegial relationships. So, the medical workers will need to provide patients with full information about his medical condition and treatment stages, while in a serious prognosis, provide patient some psycho – emotional support, protecting the confidentiality of information obtained during the medical investigations.
Also, in case of emergency, medical workers or pharmacists who are near the person, being at risk, are obliged to provide necessary assistance to dwell so long as the patient will need their professional help. The Code includes, also, regulations regarding the integrity of the medical worker and pharmacist, who must avoid engaging in corruption or bribery, and obtaining unjustified advantages.
The purposes of the Code, in medical institutions and pharmaceutical ethics committees, will be created which will monitor and promote implementation of the rules approved document. For Code violation, the medical and pharmaceutical personnel will be liable to disciplinary.
