Moldovan government convened first meeting of working group for 20 October local elections
Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/- On 9 September, Secretary-General of the Government Andrei Spînu chaired first meeting of the working group on the coordination and monitoring of the actions of the central public administration authorities meant to ensure the conditions corresponding to the good conduct of the poll on 20 October the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The inter-institutional working group consists of members of the Government, state secretaries of the ministries and representatives of the agencies subordinated to the executive. The members of the working group analyzed the issues related to the organization of elections, duties of ministries and relevant bodies and modalities and proposals to overcome the existing blockages.
Andrei Spînu reported a number of problems which represent an impediment to fair elections, presence of erroneous data in voter lists, campaign financing, cases on voter corruption, lack of clarity in political parties’ lists. “The current government wants these elections to be truly free, fair, transparent, without violations, especially regarding the financing of the election campaign, the conduct of elections and the day before them. We want to be a reliable partner of the Central Election Commission and have a good collaboration in organizing these elections ”, Spînu said.
Also, CEC head Dorin Cimil presented the current stage of the Action Plan on organizing the elections on 20 October and noted the following problems: setting the number of mandates of the district councilors, the difficult access to the polling stations and their arrangement, organizing the polling stations outside the country, training the observers and securing the website of the Central Election Commission.
The working group shall convene as needed at the proposal of the chair or members of the working group.
