Moldovan government sets up public health advisory council to Prime Minister

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- In the context of a critical level of epidemiological situation in the Republic of Moldova in recent days, the government decided to set up Public Health Advisory Council under the Prime Minister, who yesterday convened in first meeting, chaired by acting head of government Aureliu Ciocoi, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The platform was created to provide expertise, advice and recommendations in the effective management of the epidemiological situation caused by the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, including other epidemiological risk situations affecting public health.
The members of the Council include leaders of the main medical institutions in the country, medical specialists, Secretary General of government Liliana Iaconi, Presidential Adviser on Health Ala Nemerenco, representatives of international organizations and associations in the medical field.
Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi expressed concern about the alarming increase in the number of SARS-VOC-2 virus infections and voiced confidence that the establishment of this work platform will contribute to prompt and efficient decision-making.
MSMPS State Secretary Tatiana Zatîc presented the data on the evolution of the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 infection in the Republic of Moldova. In the last two weeks, there has been a worrying increase in the contagion rate, the number of deaths and the number of territories classified in the red alert code.
Therefore, several solutions have been analyzed to reduce the spread of the virus, priorities have been set and ways to implement public health measures have been determined. Assessing the current situation, the members of the Council emphasized the need to set tougher restrictions throughout the country, so as to reduce the pressure on the medical system.
On March 1-15, CNESP established a special activity regime in the Republic of Moldova, in order to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus. "We have a very difficult situation, in which we will have to apply radical measures. Thus, next week the education will go online, public transport will be stopped during the weekend, theaters will operate without spectators, and all those who enter the country will have to present the negative test at Covid-19. Otherwise, they will be obliged to stay in isolation for 14 days ", said Aureliu Ciocoi.
During the meeting, the level of preparation for the implementation of the National Plan on anti-covid immunization of people was also discussed. Therefore, at present, the institutions in the country are equipped with all necessary equipment that would allow the observance of the cold chain when the vaccine doses arrive in the country. The stages of the vaccination process have been established, and health professionals continue to train doctors on immunization.
Secretary of State Tatiana Zatic confirmed that 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, offered on the Covax platform will arrive in the country in a short time and another 20,000 doses will come from Romania's donation to the Republic of Moldova.
