EU announces budget of 1.9 billion euros for humanitarian aid in 2026; eight million euros allocated to Moldova

The European Commission today informed that it would allocate a budget of 1.9 billion euros for humanitarian aid in 2026. Out of this amount, 8 million euros is earmarked for Moldova.

More than half of the total budget announced by the EU is to be allocated to Africa and the Middle East.

At the same time, from the total amount, 145 million euros is allocated for humanitarian needs in Ukraine and 8 million euros for humanitarian projects in Moldova, according to a press release from the European Commission.

The EU's humanitarian aid provides vital assistance where it matters most: emergency food and shelter, essential medical care, protection for the most vulnerable and support for the education of children in crisis areas.

The initial budget of 1.9 billion euros for humanitarian aid in 2026 is announced by the EU at a time when 239 million people are in need of assistance.
