Expert Daniel Vodă: In difficult times, country needs unity, clarity and cohesion
The Republic of Moldova faces objectives that are too important to waste its energy on anything other than work and discipline. We need to keep people together around the things that matter: stability, development, peace, and the European path. These views were expressed by Daniel Vodă, associate expert in foreign policy and strategic communication at the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE).
According to the expert, in difficult times, a country needs unity, clarity, and cohesion. Daniel Vodă stated that the resignation of the prime minister is, obviously, an important political moment, but it does not mean a power vacuum and is not a reason for panic. He emphasized that the Republic of Moldova has a parliamentary majority capable of forming a government, functional institutions, and constitutional procedures that indicate what follows.
"In difficult times, a country needs unity, clarity, and cohesion. The Republic of Moldova has a parliamentary majority capable of forming a government, functional institutions, and constitutional procedures that indicate what follows. The resignation of the prime minister is, obviously, an important political moment, and we will find out the reasons that led to it. But it does not mean a power vacuum and is not a reason for panic. In a democracy, governments change. Executive teams are reshaped. A political force appoints a new team, assumes responsibility before Parliament, and moves forward," the expert said.
At the same time, Daniel Vodă stressed that, under the current conditions, constructive proposals and transparency are necessary, not speculation, since "responsibility towards the country is everyone’s duty."
"These days, I would put gossip and speculation aside. Let us listen carefully to official messages, follow institutional developments, and come up with constructive proposals, including from the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition. Let us demand transparency from the government – it is the essence of the rule of law. Moldova faces objectives that are too important to waste its energy on anything other than work and discipline. We need to keep people together around the things that matter: stability, development, peace, and the European path. Responsibility towards the country is everyone’s duty," Daniel Vodă concluded.
On this morning, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced that he is stepping down after eight months in office. Shortly afterward, President Maia Sandu held a press conference in which she announced the launch of consultations with parliamentary factions to nominate a candidate for the position of prime minister.
