Moldova presented artificial intelligence priorities at parliamentary meeting of Black Sea Region states

A delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova participated, between 29 June and 1 July, in Georgia, in the 67th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), where it presented the country’s priorities in the field of artificial intelligence development and digital transformation.

The national delegation included Members of Parliament Petru Burduja, head of the PABSEC delegation, Larisa Novac, Veronica Briceag and Olga Ursu. The main theme of the debates during the plenary session was “Artificial Intelligence for Regional Cooperation: Innovation, Connectivity and Sustainable Development in the Black Sea Region”.

In their interventions, the Moldovan parliamentarians emphasized that the Republic of Moldova is in an active phase of developing the strategic and institutional framework in the field of artificial intelligence, in line with its digital transformation and European integration objectives. According to them, the National Program on Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance for 2026–2030 is currently in the public consultation phase and aims to develop a national ecosystem for safe, ethical and competitive artificial intelligence, as well as to strengthen data infrastructure and innovation capacities. During the meeting, issues related to digital transformation and cultural diplomacy were also discussed.

The Parliament representatives highlighted the importance of interoperability of digital services, strengthening cybersecurity, and access to innovation programs for the development of the economies of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and for increasing competitiveness in the region.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation was established in 1993 in Istanbul and currently brings together parliamentary delegations from 12 member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
