Moldovan deputy PM, UNHCR acting representative in Moldova discuss managing situation of Ukrainian refugees
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with Acting Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Moldova Katja Saha. The discussions focused on cooperation in managing the situation of Ukrainian refugees and the transition towards sustainable integration policies.
Minister Mihai Popsoi reiterated the authorities’ commitment to ensuring refugees’ access to protection, education, healthcare services and integration into the labor market, and expressed appreciation for UNHCR’s steady support.
“With the support of international partners, Moldova has managed to handle this crisis and move towards sustainable solutions,” said Mihai Popsoi.
For her part, Katja Saha reconfirmed UNHCR’s support for the authorities’ efforts, including in the context of Moldova’s European integration path.
Mihai Popsoi also welcomed the beginning of Katja Saha’s mandate as representative and expressed the Moldovan government’s openness to strengthening cooperation with UNHCR, for the benefit of refugees and host communities.
