Moldova's Constitutional Court rules Shor Political Party declared unconstitutional
Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Constitutional Court (CCM) has declared the Shor Political Party unconstitutional. The ruling was issued today, following more sessions on considering the case, which lasted more than one month, with breaks.
The ruling was announced by CCM President Nicolae Rosca, after over three hours of deliberations.
The process of consideration was initiated based on a notification submitted by the government, according to which the cabinet asked for the verification of the constitutionality of the Shor Political Party. The court sessions started on 10 May 2023. During these sessions, evidence was set forth, according to which the Shor Political Party would have bribed voters and participants in protests, as well as would have organized voters’ carriage. The Shor Political Party’s representatives turned down the assertions, describing them as ‘’political’’. During the action at law, the sides presented pleadings and counterarguments and in the end they set forth retorts backing the earlier unveiled arguments.
During the pronouncing of the ruling, backers of the Shor Political Party staged a protest outside the Constitutional Court’s building.
