PM says Moldova modernizing, enjoys confidence of European partners, government to continue working to improve citizens’ lives

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today welcomed the disbursement by the European Union of a new installment worth 189 million euros from the Growth Plan for Moldova. The official noted that Moldova was modernizing, benefiting from the support of European partners and gave assurances that the Moldovan authorities would continue working to improve people’s lives.

“Good news from Brussels! Moldova will receive the second installment from the Growth Plan – 189 million euros – after the successful implementation of 24 assumed reforms, and it is opening technical negotiations on the last three groups of chapters (clusters),” said Alexandru Munteanu.

The PM emphasized that the funds would be directed to projects important for citizens: in the energy sector, to advance the construction of the regional hospital in Balti, to extend access to drinking water in more localities, to develop childcare services and to support young people entering the labor market.

“Moldova is investing in people, and these projects will bring better conditions across the entire country,” said prime minister.

The official added that today’s decisions announced by the EU confirmed that Moldova is honoring its commitments in the process of accession to the European Union.

“Moldova is modernizing; we have the confidence of our European partners and we will continue working to improve citizens’ lives,” concluded Alexandru Munteanu.
