Renato Usatii offers resignation from office of Balti city's mayor
Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Balti city’s mayor, Renato Usatii, has offered resignation from the offices of mayor and president of the Our Party political party.
At a news briefing, Usatii said: ‘’The people from Balti want politics, not concrete deeds and this was proved at the snap parliamentary elections held on 11 July. I give politicians possibility to show their potential. Show what you can do; we have showed what we can do. I do not want for them to speak about Usatii that he is willing to further hold offices.’’
The mayor noted that, as of 13 July, he would go on leave, and afterwards he would resign from the position of Balti mayor. Usatii said that nobody from his team would put forward his/her candidacy for the office of Balti mayor. He urged representatives of other political formations to prepare their candidates for the snap local elections, due in the Balti municipality.
Usatii took this decision after on 11 July the electoral bloc Renato Usatii had failed to meet the electoral threshold, getting only 4.10 per cent of the votes. Under the legislation, electoral blocs become eligible for seats in parliament if they exceed the electoral threshold of 7 per cent.
