
Frost, snow expected in Moldova on last week of January
Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) forecasts severe frost at night and frosty sun during the day, with snowfall in places, for the last week of January.
According to meteorologists, at night, the air temperature is forecast to drop to -12 Celsius degrees. During the day, -3 degrees is expected; yet, positive air temperatures will be recorded in most regions of Moldova, with short snowfall in places.
Starting from 27 January, the weather will gradually warm, with the air temperature increasing to +5 degrees during the day on 29 January and the night frost will be maintained.
Hydrologists’ warning of thin ice on water basins remains in force till 25 January. The thin ice poses danger, especially for people fishing in ice holes and children. Rescuers warn people to take care and avoid getting out on ice.
