Romanian President on private visit to Moldova

As we respect the right of citizens here to define their future, we can help the Republic of Moldova, as there are already some working teams not only in Romania but also from Western European countries that assist in the cybersecurity area where attacks occur, President of Romania Nicușor Dan said. He paid a private visit to the Republic of Moldova this weekend, attending several cultural events.

The statement was made after Nicușor Dan was asked by journalists if Romania will assist the Republic of Moldova in the context of the warning issued on July 30 by President Maia Sandu, according to which Moscow is preparing to interfere in the electoral process.

'This is what we can do. Furthermore, I hope that what the citizens here will vote for is in the European direction. I respect the vote and whatever happens, Romania will continue to help,' Nicușor Dan revealed.

Nicușor Dan, alongside Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu attended Zemii Festival on 10 August in Șipoteni commune, Călărași district in the center of the Republic of Moldova. Also today, President Dan went hiking at the Presidential Residence in Condrița, encouraging all Romanians to visit the Republic of Moldova.

Throughout today, the two heads of state participated in Floare Ciuciuleni Festival in Hâncești district and visited the village of Mașcăuți, Criuleni district, which celebrates 589 years of the locality today.

Nicușor Dan's visit to the Republic of Moldova was not announced by either the Romanian Presidency or the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova.

This visit is the second during his term.
