National Culture Day marked in Moldova; events' schedule
Moldova celebrates the National Culture Day, an occasion to honor the country’s cultural heritage and the birthday of poet Mihai Eminescu, a symbol of Romanian literature and national identity. In the context, the Culture Ministry is organizing a string of events aimed at promoting the country’s cultural values and highlighting the contribution of artistic personalities.
The National Culture Day was established by a decision of parliament in April 2012 and aims to promote national culture, authentic values and the recognition of the achievements of professionals in the field. The holiday highlights the essential contributions of writers, actors, musicians and artists who, through their talent, enrich the spiritual life of the community and strengthen the cultural identity of the people.
This day is also celebrated in Romania, where January 15 is likewise known as National Culture Day, recalling the legacy of poet Mihai Eminescu and the role of literature and art in promoting society’s authentic values. In both states, events dedicated to this day include book launches, exhibitions, poetry recitals and performances meant to bring culture closer to the public and inspire younger generations.
