Moldelectrica company endowed with modern technologies for stabilizing national electricity networks
Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - The electricity networks of Moldova will become more reliable for the consumers and will be prepared to integrate more green energy, in accordance with the national development goals. This will be possible after the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided the Moldelectrica Company with ultramodern technologies for the stabilization of the national electricity network.
Thus, USAID, through the Moldova Energy Security Activity Project (MESA), endowed the operator of the transport and system network, Moldelectrica, with equipment and an innovating specialized programme, named Wide Area Management Systems (WAMS). The programme is used, in order to identify and manage the quick fluctuations and the changes in the electric energy transport system.
WAMS is an advanced system for detection and measurement, which continuously monitors ‘’the health condition’’ of the electricity network, getting accurate information in real time. This data helps Moldelectrica quickly react, in order to prevent possible problems and to improve the safety and stability of the national network.
The WAMS monitoring system will play an important role in the integration of the renewable energy sources and in the connection of the energy system of Moldova to the one of Romania and the European one. This connection will significantly enhance the exchange of energy between the two countries, increasing the cross-border energy commerce and the management of the electricity network.
