
National Bank of Moldova confirms Moldova-Agroindbank commercial bank's primacy in system
Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/- According to official results of the banking activity at the end of 2015, announced by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), the commercial bank Moldova-Agroindbank (MAIB) continues to be the strongest inside the Moldovan banking system. By late 2015, it was the only one to hold the highest shares for most of the financial indicators, including assets, loans and deposits, thus showing a high level of the its credibility and safety.
MAIB’s assets increased by 19 per cent, up to 18.18 billion lei, during 2015, while the bank’s share for this indicator reached 26.3 per cent, being the highest level within the entire banking system. MAIB’s loan portfolio grew by 10.45 billion lei by late 2014 and by 10.55 billion lei by late 2015. The bank’s market share for this indicator accounts for 28.7 per cent.
The bank registered an impressive evolution of its deposit portfolio, including deposits of natural persons. The total volume of the deposits went up by 2.55 billion lei, accounting for 14.064 billion lei on 31 December 2015. Most of the deposits belonged to natural persons, accounting for more than 10.6 billion lei of the total sum. With a 30.1- per-cent deposit market share, MAIB sets a record within the national banking system.
Besides being caused by the situation on the banking market, the increase in the number of deponents and deposits was first of all facilitated by the high amount of credibility MAIB is getting in its tenure of safe and strong bank.
By late 2015, MAIB registered absolutely successful indicators of net income, accounting for 378.5 million lei.
In 2015, MAIB has also opened 74 new agencies, thus having 67 branches, 104 agencies, 226 ATMs, 3,275 POS-terminals, with 1,000 of them accepting contactless debit cards, by late 2015.
Global Banking & Finance Review named MAIB as “the best commercial bank in Moldova in 2015”.
