One of most important regional roads of Moldova to be modernised
Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ – There will be modernised one of most important regional roads – Corridor 11: road – Peresecina – Hartopul Mare – Ohrincea. The works will last 18 months (1 year 6 months) being funded by the World Bank (WB). The contract has been signed in Chisinau today.
The route provides the connection of Orhei and Criuleni districts. It starts at the intersection with the national road M2: Chisinau – Orhei – Soroca and ends at intersection with the Republican road R23: Criuleni – Branesti – Ivancea – M2.
The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, has said after the contract signing that the works will be carried out by a local company. The minister has also said that it is a priority to be qualitative and concluded on time. According to Gaburici, it has been selected according to financial capacity, road construction experience, availability of technical equipment and staff to carry out such works.
At his turn, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Anatol Usatai, has said that the road will be rehabilitated within project: Improving Local Roads, for which the WB has granted $80 million. The project provides for rehabilitation of 150 km of regional and local roads. The contract signed today in Chisinau provides for rehabilitation of a sector of around 09 km of road – Peresecina – Hartopul Mare – Ohrincea, the value of the works being over MDL 63 million. Anatol Usatai has also added that the road passes through more settlements and it will provide the service of almost 20,000 inhabitants in the region.
The WB Country Director for Moldova, Anna Akhalkatsi, has congratulated the winning entrepreneur with the 1st contract signing, being of major importance to company and she has said that institution it represents will further support the infrastructure projects in Moldova.
