Moldova strengthens European path with Bulgaria’s support
The process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union and the implementation of reforms have been discussed in Chisinau by Deputy prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velizar Shalamanov, with a focus on future priorities and Bulgaria’s experience on the European path.
The officials assessed the progress of negotiations and discussed how Bulgaria’s experience can support Moldova in implementing reforms and preparing for European integration.
“We discussed where we currently stand in the negotiation process for EU accession and in implementing reforms, as well as what future priorities we have. We also talked about how Bulgaria’s experience, as an EU member state for over two decades, can help us prepare as well as possible for the next steps on the European agenda,” said Cristina Gherasimov.
The official thanked the Bulgarian authorities for their constant cooperation and support for Moldova’s European path, reaffirming Chisinau’s commitment to continue reforms for the country’s European future.
Bulgaria joined the European Union on January 1, 2007, together with Romania. Since then, Bulgaria has participated in all EU policies and has gained experience in adapting national legislation to European standards, implementing institutional and economic reforms, as well as managing European funds.
