Diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova provide support to authorities in refugee crisis

Chisinau, March 5 / MOLDPRES /- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration would like to thank all our partners who have shown solidarity, support and concrete support for the Republic of Moldova in the context of managing the flow of refugees following the war in Ukraine. Diplomatic missions accredited to the Republic of Moldova continue to work closely with our authorities to identify support measures for refugees arriving in our country following the war in Ukraine, the MAEIE press service has reported.
"Our borders remain open to all those who have been forced to leave their homes, and although the number of people entering our country is very high, we are mobilizing to offer all our solidarity. The friends of Moldova from all over the world have seen, appreciated and deeply respect our humanity ", mentioned the Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.
To date, humanitarian assistance has been proposed or already provided by several EU Member States at the request of our country's assistance through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
Austria: Provides important humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Moldova in order to cope with the large influx of refugees from Ukraine, which includes: inflatable tents, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, pillows, camp beds. The convoy will leave for Chisinau on March 5.
Belgium: Generators, tents, personal hygiene kits sent to the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
Croatia: Provides 240,000 euros in humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, which includes tents, beds, blankets, surgical masks, latex gloves and 5 generators.
Denmark: offers 7 type B and C ambulances according to EU standards.
France: Through the Crisis and Assistance Center of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, it provided 40-tonne humanitarian assistance for the accommodation of refugees in Ukraine, amounting to more than 300,000 Euros (tents, tents, air mattresses, inflatable pillows, pillowcases, mattress covers, thermal blankets, sleeping bags, sanitary putties, surgical masks).
Finland: Offers 293 winter tents with emergency shelter heaters, 1 field kitchen, 10 multi-purpose tents, 2 bathroom tents.
Kingdom of the Netherlands: The first humanitarian aid for refugees provided by the Kingdom of the Netherlands has arrived in the Republic of Moldova. Humanitarian aid consists of tents, beds and sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, bedding and personal hygiene kits.
Greece: Provides humanitarian aid to refugees from the Republic of Moldova: MPT II multifunctional tents, blankets and pillows. The aid will arrive in Chisinau on Sunday, March 6.
Sweden: Provides Ukrainian refugees in Moldova with 10 tents, an electricity generator, lighting and heating systems, as well as 2 experts for exceptional situations. The aid will arrive in Chisinau next week.
Germany: It will provide humanitarian aid to our country in the form of mattresses, duvets and pillows.
At the same time, the Republic of Moldova received humanitarian aid in support of refugees from several states with which our country cooperates bilaterally.
Romania: A first shipment of 17 tons of food, hygiene products, diapers, baby food, beds, toys and pet food arrived in Chisinau. The goods will be distributed to refugee centers across the country.
Lithuania: Announced the resettlement of 2,000 Ukrainian refugees from the Republic of Moldova and provided financial assistance worth 750,000 euros transferred to the account of the Ministry of Finance.
Germany: Humanitarian aid for 300 refugees - two trucks will leave for our country on Tuesday, March 8, the third - Wednesday, March 9. The estimated value of the assistance amounts to over 400 thousand euros.
Turkey: Sent the following goods on March 1: food packages, family tents, blankets, beds, general purpose tents for Ukrainian refugees from the Republic of Moldova.
Israel: It has deployed a group of volunteers in our country through the IsraAid Agency, which helps refugees, including with psychological assistance.
India: Provides the Republic of Moldova with a batch of approximately 60 cubic meters of humanitarian aid in the form of surgical gloves, solar lamps, sleeping bags, first aid kits, aimed at resolving the refugee situation.
China: Provided financial support totaling US $ 100,000.
At the multilateral level, the Republic of Moldova has enjoyed the support of UN structures, which have also contributed substantially to increasing our capacity to respond promptly to the challenges and needs created by the security situation in Ukraine.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - delivered 8,000 thermal blankets to the Ministry of the Interior; delivered 20 computers / laptops to the Migration and Asylum Office; has started providing emergency cash assistance to vulnerable refugees.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) - printed information materials for refugees; IGPF received donations from IOM - food for refugees, 30 tent heaters (3kW), 300 blankets, 15 terrace heaters, 30 raincoats, 10 electricity generators.
World Health Organization (WHO) - 3 speakers with accessories needed at the Palanca border crossing with pre-recorded information messages for refugees. Protective equipment at the Palanca and Ocnita border crossing points (500 disinfectant units, 33,000 pairs of gloves, 50,000 masks, 33,000 respirators, 50 thermometers, 50 tonometers, 50 pulse oximeters).
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) - donated 4 (four) tons of basic hygiene products, including diapers, disinfectants, wet wipes, absorbents, toys totaling about 150 thousand lei at the crossing point Lever at the border of the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine, where the Temporary Crisis Management Center is located.
United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - support for the accommodation of 23 refugees; assistance in identifying temporary accommodation - about 800 beds; support in the maintenance of the Triage Center at the Palanca Border Crossing Point with 30 LED lights and 20 tent heaters, and 20 heating pumps.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) - 3,000 sets of personal care products and basic necessities for girls and women affected by the conflict.
UN Women - 44,000 information leaflets in Ukrainian, Russian and English at border crossing points on available support services, the asylum application process.
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) - assistance in identifying accommodation.
