
Moldovan parliament speaker participates in mourning rally on 30th anniversary of battles on Varnita-Tighina plateau
Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today participated in a mourning rally held in Varnita, where the bloodiest battles – the ones on the Varnita-Tighina plateau - took place 30 years ago, parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
In his message conveyed, the speaker paid homage to the heroes who died for the defence of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and the veterans who put at risk their lives and health for the country. ‘’Today, we see how precarious the peace and freedom can be and how much the life of a nation depends on the will of those who are always on the guard of the motherland. Our duty is to preserve at any price the peace for which our heroes fought,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.
Igor Grosu reminded that Moldova was for peace. ‘’I have confidence in the future of our country, as I am confident in the people of Moldova,’’ the parliament speaker added.
